Lighting & Electrical

  • Custom made electrical switch panel with circuit breakers & tinned wire used throughout.
  • 3  x heavy duty 120 AH batteries with 230amp heavy duty isolation switch.
  • Solar Panels: 2 x 120 watt solar panels.
  • All cabins with individual lighting and the reading and personal lights are LED
  • Galley/saloon and head area – also have flouro lighting cause sometimes you just need that really clear light.  One thing we have done is put a whole lot of $10 self contained LED lights in a lot of places throughout the boat, particularly on entry points and around the back deck.  There are also fixed lights throughout the aft deck and barbie area.

The electrical system works very well, since new the boat has not been connected to any sort of shore supply or battery charger, it has existed on solar alone.  Given that we also haven’t ever turned off the fridge and freezer, thats just fantastic, of course we do get a bit of sunshine here!  We are not rigged for shore power but do have a long extension lead and a battery charger on board for the occasion we might need to use it.  After some prevaricating we have decided to get a small Honda Generator (1000i) for supplemental power.  Warren and Deb from Next Phase/Phase2 upgraded, and so their old Honda 1000 is finding a home on our boat.

I have replaced all the internals of the flouros to enable a very strong LED white and or red light, this idea was from Jim & Dianne on Chilli Cat.
